What MedBillCheckup is
A document analysis tool. It reads a medical bill on your device, pulls out the charges, checks whether the numbers are internally consistent, and explains what it found in plain language along with questions you could ask. The bill itself never leaves your device; only the figures read from it are sent when you ask for the findings, and nothing is stored on our side.
What MedBillCheckup is not
It is not a doctor, a hospital, an insurer, a lawyer, a debt collector, a claims adjuster, or a medical diagnosis system.
It does not:
- diagnose conditions or interpret your medical care;
- determine whether treatment was medically necessary;
- determine your legal rights or give legal advice;
- determine what your insurance covers or should pay;
- determine whether a charge is correct, incorrect, fraudulent or illegal;
- determine what you owe;
- guarantee that a billing error exists or will be found;
- guarantee a refund, a reduction, or any other outcome;
- replace a doctor, a lawyer, an insurance professional, or a certified medical billing specialist.
What a finding means
A finding means: given only what is printed on the document you opened, this is something a person might reasonably want to ask about.
It does not mean a mistake was made. Many findings have entirely ordinary explanations: a facility fee and a professional fee for the same service, a daily charge billed per day, a claim still being processed. That is why every finding tells you what to verify rather than what to conclude.
Confidence
Each finding carries a confidence level. It reflects how strong the signal is and how legibly we could read the values involved. It is a measure of how sure we are about what the document says, not about whether the bill is right.
What to do with the results
Use them as preparation for a conversation. Take the report to your provider's billing department, ask the questions, and get their explanation. If something remains unresolved and money is at stake, speak to a qualified professional.
