About MedBillCheckup
MedBillCheckup is a small, independent tool that helps you understand a US medical bill before you pay it. It reads the bill on your own device, lays out every charge and points out what is worth asking your provider about. We never see your bill.
Who runs it
MedBillCheckup is built and run by Rémi Toumi, an independent sole trader based in Spain. It is not a hospital, an insurer, a billing or collection company, or a law firm, and it is not affiliated with any of them. The operator’s full details are in the terms.
What it does, and what it does not
- Reads the bill in your own browser: a photo, a scan or the PDF. The file is never uploaded.
- Lays out every charge and checks that the figures add up and that the dates make sense.
- Points out the lines worth asking your provider about, each with the exact reason, the questions to ask and a letter you can send.
It never tells you a charge is wrong: only your provider or your insurer can confirm that. It is not medical, legal or financial advice. See how it works.
How it is paid for
Reading a bill and checking its figures is free, with no account. Seeing the findings costs $6.99 for one bill, or $14.99 a month ($99.00 a year) for Pro. That is the only income: there are no ads, no commissions from providers, insurers or anyone else, and no data to sell, because your bill stays on your device. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never contact you first
MedBillCheckup never calls you, never sends texts or letters, and never asks you to pay a medical bill. The only emails you can receive are the sign-in links a subscriber asks for, and Stripe’s receipts for a payment you made. If a message using our name asks you to pay a bill or to share personal details, it is not from us: do not reply, and tell us through the Support page.
